Museum is open!

18.12.2020

Dear inhabitants of the Soča Valley, dear visitors and supporters of the Kobarid Museum!

The year 2020 is ending, year that will stay in history. The year was different; we fought with plague of the modern times, pandemic of virus COVID-19 and maybe year 2021 will be the same. The museum was closed one third of the year because of the pandemic - 50 days in spring and some more days in autumn and in the beginning of winter. This year was special because we were celebrating 30th anniversary of the Kobarid Museum and 20th anniversary of Walk of Peace. Due to the pandemic, we were not able to celebrate the anniversaries appropriately. We prepared some events and activities, where we acknowledged 30 years of preservation of cultural heritage of the Isonzo front in Kobarid, the Soča Valley and mountains above, where events between May 195 and October 1917 unwound for 29 months during the First World War.

We presented our work and our mission of preservation of the Great War heritage together with Walk of Peace through project “Incentive of common living in the Soča Valley”. We exposed our mission and engagement of our institutions to promote lasting peace among nations of the world. We prepared short video presentation of our work.

The Kobarid Museum is open again from 19 December 2020. As usual in normal circumstances, museum is open every day following the winter schedule from 10:00 to 17:00. We respect all health safety measures due to the virus COVID-19. Entrance in the museum is allowed only with facemasks. We prepared a new temporary exhibition “29 months of Fights along The Soča”. The permanent exhibition expects you with the documentary movie and animation of the 12th Isonzo battle. Cordially invited to visit us! We will be happy to meet with you in the museum.

Let the light, which gives symbol of reopening of the museum, brings peace in Christmas, health and luck in the New Year 2021!
